My boyfriend is Algerian, but since he is Berber and not Arab, he self-identifies much more to the Berber "nation" rather than the Algerian nation. This is the Berber flag:
A few years ago I wanted to knit him some mittens and knew that this sign would be something he would like. Rather than making the entire flag (my knitting skills were far less advanced at the time), I just made the sign in the middle with the colours of the flag. I'm not sure Aissa ever wore them, but he kept them around all this time so that's good enough for me!
